BIO... REO SPEEDWAGON
Over a decade ago, Gary Richrath, a native of Peoria, formed REO Speedwagon while he was attending the University of Illinois in Champaign. He met fellow Illinoisian, lead singer Kevin Cronin, who was running a musician's referral service in Evanston in those early years. The band had several albums, but it wasn't until they released YOU CAN TUNE A PIANO, BUT YOU CANT TUNE A FISH, their first gold album, and last year's greatest hits album, that the band achieved notoriety outside of Chicago. This year gave the band their biggest hit record yet, KEEP ON LOVING YOU, from the year's top album, HI INFIDELITY, giving Chicagoland another band to be proud of.
Bio... THE ROLLING STONES
From their fast appearance on the Silver Dollar Survey in 1964, to their most recent album, The Rolling Stones have created quite a stir, not only in Chicago, but in all of rock and roll. In 1962, Mick Jagger, a student at the London School of Economics, met Keith Richard, who was studying Art, and The Rolling Stones were born. Their name was derived from an old Muddy Waters tune called THE ROLLING STONE BLUES. The band has withstood many ups end downs over the years, including the death of Brian Jones, to capture the number one spot in the Big 89 with their most recent hit, START ME UP, from the former number one album TATTOO YOU completing the most successful year in the history of the band, proving that rock and roll is ageless.
